Float Center Indiegogo fundraiser.
The Float Center, to be located in downtown Gainesville, will be the first sensory deprivation float chamber facility in the area. The design, made from two high cube shipping containers forms an elevated “L” adjacent to the south and west sides of an existing hundred-year-old wood-frame residential building.
Inside the south-facing container is The Float Center which includes a reception area and two float chamber suites. The west-facing container houses a small custom furniture studio. The space under the west container creates an entrance from 4th Avenue where guests can enjoy refreshments. The south container shelters deck space for the existing Aurora Healing Arts Center garden. To buffer against the street and neighbors and balance the raw corten steel containers, verdant wood screen facades provide comfortable degrees of enclosure. The weathered-gray cypress slats and colorful flowering green vines filter shifting patterns of light and shadow on the warm red-brown steel. Together
To buffer against the street and neighbors and balance the raw corten steel containers, verdant wood screen facades provide comfortable degrees of enclosure. The weathered-gray cypress slats and colorful flowering green vines filter shifting patterns of light and shadow on the warm red-brown steel. Together the space, light and material provide a therapeutic environment for the healing activities offered.
Inside the well-insulated container patrons experience a peaceful, softly-lit, cleansing space which sets the stage for entering the float pod.
